Domenic Rom - Chief Operating Officer
Domenic Rom is a 25-year New York City post-production veteran whose groundbreaking work with Unitel, Duart, Sekani and Moving Images – as well as his proactive membership with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers – has earned the respect of filmmakers worldwide. Joining Duart in 1984 as a colorist, he became the firm’s senior colorist within two years, was named operations manager in 1988 and VP of video operations in 1991, as the firm experienced extensive growth. Managing six telecine suites, the addition of an EditBox and a Cineon Film Scanner -- and more than fifty employees – by 1997 Rom was named executive vice president and elected to Duart’s Board of Directors. Over the next three years, he managed the operation of the laboratory, the company’s major studio and producer relationships, its finances and IATSE labor negotiations, all while monitoring the industry’s latest technological innovations. Joining high-end post production company Moving Images in 2002, Rom was instrumental in developing and launching The Lab at Moving Images, the first new film lab to open in Manhattan in over 30 years. Rom remains an active member of the SMPTE, ITS and AICP organizations.
